What is HVAC/R?

Often referred to as climate control; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems help to control the climate of your building by regulating the temperature and air flow. HVAC systems range in complexity from stand-alone units that serve individual rooms to large, centrally controlled systems serving multiple zones in a building.

H - Heating in physics, is energy that is spontaneously flowing from an object with a high temperature to an object with a lower temperature. It is easier described as the act of increasing temperature.

V - Ventilation or Ventilating is the process of "changing" or replacing air in any space to control temperature or remove moisture, odors, smoke, heat, dust and airborne bacteria. Ventilation includes both the exchange of air to the outside as well as circulation of air within the building.

AC/R - Air conditioning and refrigeration are provided through the removal of heat.
